Abstract

This chapter is devoted to the thematic content of the author's course «History of theatrical and decorative art», studied at theater universities in acting and directing directions. The analytical review of the program is systematized and considered in the context of historical epochs in chronological order. Attention is drawn to the key phenomena of scenographic culture in the context of the director's concept of a particular master. Stylistic tendencies turn out to be important for the interpretation of the creative method of both the artist and the director as the basic criteria for creating a single artistic whole. It is noted that the development of the material is not only lecture, but also problematic, aimed at search and research tasks that form universal cognitive abilities and competencies of students of a theater university as a condition for the implementation of an individual educational route.
