the authors outlines that in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, there were several discourses on the concept of corruption. It is pointed out that on the one hand, corruption was viewed in moralistic terms as a loss of virtue in relation to society; a generalized condition that randomly affects political elites and citizens. On the other hand, corruption is a narrow, legalistic view of this act as an abuse of public office for personal purposes, and, as in the modern sense corruption includes such actions as patronage, bribery, extortion and embezzlement.
