the article is devoted to the analysis of Plato's works «On the State» and «Laws», as a result of which it becomes clear what an ideal state from a political and legal point of view was for the thinker. Such aspects of his teachings as the form of an ideal state, the political and legal system, the social structure of society, the cultural and religious aspects of his organization, the personality in an ideal state are considered.
