conscientious and responsible attitude to military service, loyalty to the oath are distinctive features of the Chuvash mentality. These qualities were especially vividly manifested during the Great Patriotic War. Service in the army and defence of the Motherland as a man's civic duty are considered as one of the main values of the Russian society. Old soldier's blessings and family front stories can be used in the formation of a sense of patriotism and citizenship of modern young men.
