In this article, the author analyzes the institution of banking licensing in the Russian Federation. The paper examines the licensing procedure of credit institutions, as well as its impact on the banking system of the Russian Federation. In addition, various types of credit institutions and their importance for the financial market are described. The thesis is emphasized that the Central Bank's choice of a specific vector for the development of the banking market should not hinder the entry of new entities into the market and the development of healthy competition.
