The article presents a summary of novel material on the topic under study, introduces into scientific use such a concept as: "Intensity index of the dissertation research on pedagogy conducted in the Internal and the Russian national guard troops". The purpose of the article is to form the concept, interpret and describe the procedure for calculating the intensity index of dissertation research. The author describes the ways of this tool implementation while studying the dynamics of dissertation research. The article reveals the means to calculate this index designed to help researchers.
