- The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the systemic crisis of psychology as a science, aggravated by new legislative initiatives, fragmentation of the professional community, as well as the growing influence and popularity of esoteric practices among the population. The author substantiates the need to shift the focus from prohibitive and restrictive measures to the strategy of integrating modern achievements of neuroscience, historical and scientific deconstruction of esoteric teachings and comprehensive reform educational standards. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of a person and his self-consciousness as the central subject of psychological science, as well as to the issues of the specialist's responsibility for the worldview and personal integrity of the client.
