    Abstract:
    The article examines the educational route of a citizen in the employment service system as a mechanism for preparation for self-employment. It is substantiated that consulting, diagnostic and educational activities become effective when integrated into a holistic trajectory built with regard to the citizen’s professional request, available resources and educational deficits. The main stages of the route are presented: identification of the request, assessment of readiness, determination of educational needs, acquisition of the necessary knowledge, practical testing of the idea, choice of the legal form of employment and further support. The conclusion is made about the importance of the educational route for the citizen’s transition to self-employment and for strengthening the role of the employment service as a navigator of professional development.
