    Abstract:
    The article raises the question of the importance of studying the works of modern authors in the framework of literary education of schoolchildren. In particular, the features of the poetics of Zakhar Prilepin's book "Dogs and Other People", included in the federal curriculum of secondary general education in literature, are considered. The emphasis is on the cyclical nature of the collection as the most characteristic of the writer's works, revealing a natural philosophical picture of the world.

    Abstract:
    The article substantiates the importance of studying the discipline "Russian and Foreign literature" in the training of cadets of military universities in Russia. It is noted that when reading and analyzing the works provided for in the program, future officers form ideas about the causes of socio-economic, military-political, moral and moral crises of different historical eras, and develop respect for the historical heritage. The educational role of fiction is substantiated, as well as the need for cadets of military universities to study the works of domestic and foreign writers about the war, during which not only the cultural horizons of future officers are expanded, but also high moral qualities of the individual are formed: a sense of patriotism, pride in their profession. It is summarized that the quality of patriotic education of future officers directly depends on their ability to resist the enemy, the ability to show fortitude and reveal the "Russian character", in critical moments to raise the fighting spirit of their colleagues, to be an example of a true patriot, ready to sacrifice his life for the sake of a lofty idea – the defense of the Fatherland, the protection of his people.
