In this regard, the article presents the results of the analysis and generalization of the authors' works on the problem of psychological readiness for independent living among students with mental retardation.

The article emphasizes the importance of supporting healthy family relationships for the development of social skills in high school students, which contributes to improving interpersonal interaction with the outside world.
