    Abstract:
    The article deals with one of the ways of teaching a foreign language using a fairy-tale, gives a brief description of fairy-tales from Afanasiev's collection and fairy-tales by the Grimm Brothers. It also lists skills and abilities which are developed in a foreign language lesson where a fairy-tale is used. It is focused on the forming competencies which are necesssary for successful communication.
