    Abstract:
    The role of poetical works in the formation of the linguoculturological competence and the development of the cognitive interest in the foreign language under study is touched on in this article. The author underlines that studying of poetical works is essential to broaden the notion of the country the language of which is learnt. The author comes to the conclusion poetry is of great importance in the development of the sense of beauty that stimulates students’ speech.

    Abstract:
    The article considers the role of culturological information in formation and development of cognitive interest for foreign language studies. A wish to study in Russia witnesses on the fact that foreign students have psychological readiness to study the Russian language, learn about Russian history and culture. The interest for Russian culture is a basis for the positive attitude to the language and a motive for studying it. As an example, the author gives topics for essays and public speeches used in classes of Russian as a foreign language.
