    Abstract:
    Авторы рассматривают возможности применения математических методов и моделей, в частности, методов матричной алгебры, для обоснования выбора при необходимости сравнения альтернатив по нескольким критериям. В статье рассматривается проблема оптимального выбора моторных масел для обеспечения работы двигателей внутреннего сгорания горнодобывающей техники. Определены альтернативные виды моторных масел, наработана система критериев для их сравнительной оценки, построены матрицы парных сравнений для оценки относительной важности критериев и оценки альтернатив по каждому из критериев. На основе метода анализа иерархий произведен синтез глобальных приоритетов, что позволило прийти к оптимальному выбору.

    Abstract:
    In science, there are many cases when it is necessary to abandon complex research methods in favor of simpler ones. This is due to the need to take into account a much larger number of factors, the complexity of implementation and, as a result, restrictions on the use in some cases. For many years, the authors have been engaged in the development and application of expert technologies in economics, geoecology, geography, and optimal choice problems. From their experience, they came to the conclusion that more complex technologies are not always justified. In the article intended for young scientist and postgraduate students, using the example of calculating weight coefficients, it is shown that simpler methods can give results similar to complex methods. But at the same time, you need to understand in what cases it is possible to make such a replacement.
