  • Emotional Intelligence and Assertiveness: Aspects of the Relationship in Helping Professions Students

    Abstract:
    In the contemporary world, characterized by high uncertainty and increasing demands on specialists, especially in helping professions, the development of key personal competencies becomes critically important. The aim of this study was to investigate the interrelationship between emotional intelligence and assertiveness in students preparing for helping professions. The study involved 100 students (aged 17–18) studying psychology and pedagogy. Emotional intelligence was assessed using methods by D. V. Lyusin, M. A. Manoylova, and N. Shutte. The level of assertiveness was measured using the V. P. Sheinov questionnaire. Statistical data processing was performed using Pearson's correlation analysis. The results revealed statistically significant positive correlations between all studied indicators of emotional intelligence and the level of assertiveness. The strongest relationships were found between assertiveness and intrapersonal and interpersonal emotional intelligence (Lyusin's method), the integral emotional intelligence indicator and the ability to manage one's own feelings (Manoylova's method), and the overall emotional intelligence score (Shutte's method). The data confirms the hypothesis of a close interrelationship between these constructs and emphasizes the need for targeted development of emotional intelligence and assertiveness during the professional training of future helping professionals. This will contribute to enhancing their professional effectiveness.

    Abstract:
    Economists exercise power over those they serve by virtue of their intellectual monopoly on a subject of vital importance to society. Many economists today also wield considerable institutional power. Economic interventions, as a rule, bring both the expected harm and benefit. Economists work in a world of epistemic insufficiency, which implies the risk of unforeseen harm. Each of these statements does not cause any doubts. The chapter examines the problem of the fact that each proposal individually and, of course, all of them together imply the obligation of the profession to solve professional ethical problems that economic practice entails. The profession of an economist has too much influence today to allow its further resistance to serious interaction with professional ethics.

    Abstract:
    This article presents the statistics of the development of Chuvash Republic’s educational system, describes the modern state of general (preschool, school) education. The article also describes current problems of educational system on different levels and lists possible solutions of those problems. Main attention is given to the fact that balanced development of regional systems of education is a key factor of forming unified educational system in Russian Federation. Author gives his own point of view on the creation of conditions for preservation and development of Russian people’s native languages.
