    Abstract:
    This chapter deals with the German language and its national variants which are spread in Switzerland and Austria. The work analyzes everyday situations of written and oral communication, emphasizes the important role in mastering the communicative and socio-cultural competencies by future teachers of foreign languages, highlights the importance of introducing the study of the national versions of the German language into the educational process.
