    This article is dedicated to the consideration of issues related to teaching Russian as a foreign language to high school students from families of foreign citizens. In particular, it examines the students' acquisition of the linguoculturological component of the Russian language, namely, the understanding and correct use of Russian proverbs and sayings in speech.

    Abstract:
    The article examines the problem of the loss of dialectal ecological vocabulary and ethnospecific metaphors as an essential element of linguistic and cultural memory. The author substantiates the significance of ethnospecific metaphors not only as a stylistic device but also as a way of comprehending the world and shaping ecological consciousness. The study demonstrates that incorporating ethnospecific metaphors into the educational process contributes not only to enriching students’ speech but also to fostering ecological culture, preserving cultural heritage, and strengthening intergenerational connections.

    The article attempts a comparative analysis of the lexemes denoting animals in various languages and their corresponding onomatopoeic units. The authors draw conclusions about the studied group of language units based on a survey and questionnaire of foreign students, systematize the results of the experiment.
