    The article summarizes the facts of the biography of Vyacheslav Petrovich Vinokurov, a participant in three wars, details of the battles at Lake Khasan, following which he became a Hero of the Soviet Union – the first from the Chuvash ASSR, as well as at the Rzhev-Vyazma bridgehead, where he died heroically.

    Abstract:
    The article considers the problem of ignorance of the Russian language by Red Army soldiers and junior commanders of the Red Army and the way out of this situation in 1941–1943 by political bodies. The language barrier during the Great Patriotic War affected not only the combat capability of units made up of representatives of different peoples of the USSR, but also led to conflicts. One of the methods of working with fighters of non-Russian nationalities was propaganda work in the native languages of these fighters.
