- Social support for families raising a disabled child is one of the technologies of social work. Social support is an activity aimed at providing assistance to citizens, including parents, guardians, trustees, and other legal representatives of minor children in need of medical, psychological, pedagogical, legal, and social assistance, by engaging organizations that provide such assistance, based on interdepartmental cooperation.

- В нашей стране, как и во всем мире, наблюдается тенденция роста числа детей с ограниченными возможностями здоровья. Появление в семьях детей с дефектами вносит коррективы в привычный быт: нарушается взаимодействие родителей с социумом, искажаются внутрисемейные супружеские отношения, возникают конфликты, появляются бытовые и финансовые сложности. Задачей государственной важности становится создание условий для полноценного физического, интеллектуального, духовного, нравственного и социального развития детей-инвалидов. А семьям с детьми-инвалидами – оказание своевременной психологической, медицинской, педагогической и социальной помощи.
