- Abstract:
- The study investigates the influence of housing conditions and health on the behavior of domestic cats. A comparative analysis showed that the active time share is 42% for rural cats and only 8% for apartment cats, with sleep in the latter reaching 60% of the day. High environmental plasticity of behavior was revealed. It was established that physiological stress (illness, collar wearing) suppresses locomotion but enhances affiliative behavior as a stress-reduction strategy. The influence of early ontogenesis on the formation of stable behavioral traits is noted. Measures for environmental enrichment of apartment cats to prevent physical inactivity are proposed.
