The impact of using chatbots on learning a foreign language in a non-linguistic university
Book ChapterPsychological and pedagogical issues of modern education- Author:

- Abstract:
- The relevance of this study is determined by the fact that artificial intelligence and neural network chatbots are playing an increasingly important role in higher education; they often take over traditional methods of teaching a foreign language in non-linguistic universities. At the same time, the issue of the advantages of using artificial intelligence in teaching a foreign language remains open. The purpose of the chapter is to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using neural network chatbots in the process of teaching a foreign language in comparison with traditional teaching methods. To achieve this goal, the author uses experimental teaching of English to first-year future culturologists. As a result of the study, it was found that the process of assimilation of foreign language material when teaching a foreign language using chatbots differs from the process of assimilation while teaching traditionally. Significant differences were noticed at the stages of formation of motivation, presentation of new foreign language material, comprehension and rethinking of the new lexical and grammatical material. Such phenomena as clip thinking, the Google effect, and the devaluation of students’ memory with the constant use of digital devices have a particularly strong influence on changes in the learning process. Techniques are proposed to neutralize the negative impact of neural network learning on students, when implemented, an increase in the effectiveness of teaching a foreign language using neural network chatbots is observed.

National specificity of the lexical-phraseological field Brot in the German language (linguistic-cultural aspect)
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 7 No 1- Author:

- Abstract:
- This article is devoted to the linguistic-cultural analysis of the background word "Brot" in comparison with its Russian conceptual equivalent хлеб in order to identify common and nationally specific differences due to the presence of cultural components on the semantic periphery of both lexemes. The lexical background of the word "Brot" is presented in the form of a lexico-phraseological field, which includes culturally marked lexical units combining both linguistic and non-linguistic content, which allowed us to interpret the background uniqueness of the lexeme in a culturally meaningful way. The relevance of the research is conditioned by the necessity of further study of the background lexicon taking into account the complex character of its non-conceptual part of meaning, possessing implicit denotative and connotative national originality, the elimination of which can have a negative impact on the act of intercultural communication. In the course of the study, we also used the methods of descriptive, comparative and component analysis, the method of critical analysis of the dictionary and dictionary definitions, which allowed us to conclude that the paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations of the word "Brot" are highly culturally unique, and revealed quantitative and qualitative differences in thematically related secondary nominations. The main material of the study is represented by culturally marked lexical units of the mentioned topics, identified by means of a continuous sampling from German explanatory, encyclopedic, phraseological and linguistic-cultural dictionaries, as well as German-Russian dictionaries.

- Abstract:
- The purpose of the work is to describe the method of the linguoculturological field (LCF), the features of its application in RFL classes and to demonstrate its capabilities in the aspect of professionalization. The theoretical substantiation of the method is given, the principles of LCF formation in the didactic aspect are formulated and models of three linguistic and cultural fields are presented. The following research methods were used in the work: the method of controlled selection, conceptual analysis, synthesis, field modeling. The authors noted the need for the formation of non-philological specialties among foreign students along with the professional competence of linguistic and cultural competence. This approach can greatly facilitate the process of entry of foreign students into the field of professional language, and also gives them the opportunity to get acquainted with Russian culture at the same time. The latter, in turn, will contribute to the formation of communicative competence, which is necessary for successful study in Russia. It is possible to achieve the simultaneous development of these three competencies by applying the LCF method. As a result, a key concept corresponding to their professionalization develops in the minds of students. For medical students it is a "Russian doctor", for military school students it is a "Russian warrior", for music students it is a "Russian musician". The article traces the connection of linguoculturology, linguistics and professional language. The concept of the linguoculturological field, its structure and units (linguoculturemes) is given. These units are, among other things, vocabulary located at the junction of the mentioned disciplines. Three linguistic and cultural fields have been formed, each of which contains 5 lists of linguistic units: 1) frequently used words; 2) sample contexts; 3) prominent figures in the field; 4) fiction and non-fiction texts; 5) quotes and sayings. These units generally cover the center, periphery and cultural component of each simulated field. It is proposed to organize RCT training, moving from the center to the periphery of the field according to educational centers united by the corresponding cultural theme. Brief recommendations on the implementation of the training center in the thematic plan are also given.

- Abstract:
- The authors outline that it is necessary to solve such a complex and large-scale problem as the growth of deviations among the younger generation. Also the authors point out the lack of methodological continuity in approaches implemented in the processes of education and upbringing. It is found out that educational models and upbringing models are realized as processes that are not connected to each other, which significantly reduces the effectiveness of the educational process and does not fully take into account all the psychological and pedagogical aspects of the implementation of educational programs. The aim of the work is to establish causal relationships between the development of universal learning activities and the education of a cultural personality, necessary for the harmonious development of adolescents. A number of conceptual models (schemes) that reflect the basic concepts of these processes and the conceptual modeling method were used in order to achieve the aim. The results of the work are the following: presentation of a scenario model of the process of implementing universal learning actions (ULA) and identification of areas of application of efforts of teachers and psychologists in the implementation of adolescents’ deviant behavior correction using methods of art education and cultural studies. The authors make the main conclusion that educational and creative tasks play a system-forming role in the implementation of the ULA, and the methods of art education and cultural studies are an effective tool for correcting deviant behavior.
