- This paper examines the impact of armed conflicts on the evolution of patriotic attitudes in society. It explores the concepts of "patriotism" and "civic identity," as well as their relationship in the public consciousness. It demonstrates that war acts as a powerful trigger for both social consolidation and the disintegration of a unified image of patriotic consciousness—much depends on the context, the media environment, and trust in institutions.

- The article points to a large number of wars over the historical path of Russia. This fact contributed to the formation of the Russian national identity and its main component – patriotism. Attention is focused on explaining the position of the state on the need to protect its interests not only on its territory, but also outside the Fatherland.
