Organizing Students' Independent Work in the Course “Technologies of Interaction between Participants in Educational Relations”

- The aim of this article is to examine the specific features of organizing students' independent work in a modern university, using Mari State University as a case study. The relevance of the research is justified by contemporary requirements for the structure of curricula and the forms of organizing educational activities in higher education. The paper presents practical materials on the organization of students' independent work within the framework of the discipline “Technologies of Interaction between Participants in Educational Relations”, which is included in the master's degree curriculum. The research materials comprised an analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature and the results of the author's survey of students. The case study reveals the essence of the concept of “independent work” in the context of the requirements of regulatory frameworks governing the educational process and the current conditions for the implementation of educational programs. The author emphasizes the role of the teacher in organizing students' cognitive activities and substantiates the importance of monitoring and assessment on the part of the instructor. The article provides a fragment of the thematic planning of independent work, specifying the task formulations and the forms of reporting the results of students' independent mastery of the course material. Based on the research findings, the author draws the following conclusions: independent work is a component of the educational program within the academic discipline; students' learning motivation for independent work depends on the discipline module, instructor monitoring, and instructional support provided by the teacher.

- The paper considers the issues of part-time students’ self-study and various ways of its organization in the terms of education modernization. The discussion concerns a reasonable application of new technologies together with traditional methods of teaching part-time students a foreign language. The aim of applying new technologies is enhancing the effectiveness of education with competence approach in marine English teaching in order to develop the competence in compliance with federal educational standards of higher education (FGOS VO) and the IMO STCW Convention (1978/95).
