Abstract

The author draws attention to the controversial issues in the study of the phenomenon of patriotism, since the topic has been studied by many scientists: political scientists, psychologists, philosophers and representatives of other sciences, which indicates its complex and interdisciplinary nature. It is necessary to responsibly approach the solution of this problem in terms of obtaining new knowledge and at the same time substantiating the idea of ​​​​patriotism as a value and national ideal. Polar opposites are the interpretations of patriotism as a loyal attitude to the state, adoration of the monarch, on the one hand, and love for a person, family and small homeland, on the other hand. Complete and authentic patriotism seeks to cover all aspects of this phenomenon and is distinguished by tolerance for other opinions.
