this paper examines the development of ethnic identity in primary school-age children from Tuvan families residing in Kyzyl. Drawing on a theoretical synthesis of various conceptual approaches, the author focuses on the essence and structure of ethnic identity. The study employs M. Kuhn and T. McPartland's “Who Am I?” technique and its adaptation by Russian scholar Z. V. Sikevich. The findings indicate that the ethnic identity of Tuvan primary schoolchildren is in the process of active formation but has not yet become a stable core of self-awareness.
