  • FORGOTTEN IMAGES OF NATURE: ETHNO-SPECIFIC METAPHORS AS LANGUAGE MEMORY

    The article examines the problem of the loss of dialectal ecological vocabulary and ethnospecific metaphors as an essential element of linguistic and cultural memory. The author substantiates the significance of ethnospecific metaphors not only as a stylistic device but also as a way of comprehending the world and shaping ecological consciousness. The study demonstrates that incorporating ethnospecific metaphors into the educational process contributes not only to enriching students’ speech but also to fostering ecological culture, preserving cultural heritage, and strengthening intergenerational connections.

  • On the Specifics of the Besermyan Vocabulary in «Materials for a comparative Dictionary...» by P. M. Sorokin: Turkic Borrowings

    Abstract:
    Written records play an important role in the study of language history, linguistic phenomena, and their dynamics. They are particularly significant for the language of the Besermyans, a compact group living in the northwest of the Udmurt Republic. The language of this small people only received the status of an independent idiom in 2022. The manuscript "Materials for a Comparative Dictionary of the Zyuzdin Permyak and Glazov Votian Dialects and the Besermyan Dialect" is currently one of the few early written records containing a significant amount of Besermyan material. The aim of this study is to identify Besermyan words of Turkic origin in this manuscript and analyze their origin and territorial distribution. The study utilizes descriptive and etymological methods. During the study of the dictionary's vocabulary, words of Turkic origin were selected, which are unique or predominantly found in the Besermyan language. Most of them are Tatarisms borrowed in the northern territory of what is now the Kirov Oblast and the Udmurt Republic, indicating close Besermyan-Turkic contacts in this region. The list includes only two Bulgarisms and one Chuvashism. Further analysis of the dictionary's features will allow us to determine its precise dialectal base.

  • The Main Data about the Consonant System of the Low German Dialect of the Mennonite Germans of the Simferopol Region of the Crimean Peninsula

    Abstract:
    The article describes the consonant system of the Low German dialect of the Mennonite Germans of the Simferopol region of Crimea. Mennonites are followers of the Reformation movement that emerged in the 16th century in the Netherlands. The founder of this religious teaching was former Frisian Catholic priest Menno Simons (1496–1561), who united small, disjointed congregations of Anabaptists based on his doctrine. Since 1789, at the invitation of Catherine II, Mennonites began to migrate to Russia. The study is based on an analysis of the oral speech of representatives of an ethnic religious community who retained their native language in a foreign-speaking environment. The authors identify 25 consonant phonemes and describe in detail their classification according to articulatory and acoustic characteristics, as well as the functional load based on frequency of use. Special attention is paid to the specific features of consonantism, including the preservation of archaic features characteristic of the Low German dialect Plattdeutsch, as well as the influence of Russian and High German dialects. Such phenomena as palatalization before the vowels of the front row, spirantization of the consonants, velarization [l], vocalization [r], the presence of voiced consonants at the absolute end of the word. The analysis shows that the dialect under study retains a significant degree of archaism, while simultaneously being influenced by the contact Russian language. Despite the numerical reduction of native speakers, the consonant system demonstrates stability and internal logic, which makes it an important object for linguistic and ethnolinguistic research.

  • Problems of Teaching the Native Language to Even Children

    Abstract:
    This paper examines the functioning of the Even language in modern conditions. The research material is based on observations of the process of teaching Even children their native language. Using theoretical analysis and generalization of pedagogical experience, the author investigated and identified the most effective forms and means of teaching the Even language. The study covers northeastern Yakutia, specifically the Momsky (Even) National District. The small Even people, formerly known as Lamuts, live across a significant territory in northeastern Russia. They lead a nomadic lifestyle, constantly moving from one pasture to another, which is required by their traditional form of economy – domestic reindeer herding. Currently, the Even language is endangered; its use is declining, and its transmission to the younger generation is declining. Textbooks do not always meet the objectives of teaching dialects. In this paper, the author, using theoretical analysis and generalization of pedagogical experience, determines the most effective forms and means of teaching Even children. It is important to preserve the cultural context of the language through education, traditions, folklore, and its active use in the socio-cultural environment. Creating conditions for systematic and successful teaching of the native language to Even children should include expanding the scope of language use and its integration into everyday life.

Результаты проведенного исследования могут быть использованы в спецкурсах по региональной вариантологии и диалектологии.

    The chapter shows that the main points in the concept of ownership by V.N. Afanasyev are its functioning as a form of combining production factors (individual labor, organizational and legal forms of economic activity, international forms of economic cooperation and the correspondence of the form of ownership to the form of the product (for collective labor – this is a directly social product, for individual labor – a commodity. The author argues the position that both a strictly centralized economy and a chaotic accumulation of forms of ownership are harmful to the economy, which in both cases causes instability of economic development.

    С целью поиска решения проблемы регулирования современных социальных противоречий изучена диалектика господина и раба, выявлена преемственность её традиционных трактовок. Объяснён процесс современной трансформации диалектики господина и раба на основе стратегии «символический капитал», выявлены пространственно-временные особенности её функционирования, обоснована рекурсивная суть диалектики символического капитала. Впервые сформулированы и определены авторские понятия «поле доверия» и «ментальные дистанции». Сделан вывод о перспективности применения стратегии «символический капитал» для регулирования глобальных изменений. Исследование проведено в синергетической, рекурсивной и сложностной парадигмах на основе компаративного, социосинергетического, социально-философского подходов. Даны практические рекомендации по применению полученных результатов.

В результате проведенного анализа были выявлены фонетико-просодические особенности исследуемых вариантов французского языка, функционирующих за пределами Франции, а также эльзасского диалекта по сравнению с языком метрополии. Проведенное исследование опиралось на процедуры сравнительно-сопоставительного анализа. Для отбора языкового материала были использованы данные французских и диалектных словарей, аудиотексты, а также лингвистические атласы. Практическая значимость проведенного исследования заключается в возможности использования полученных результатов в спецкурсах по ареальной лингвистике.

  • The Tatar layer of words in the system of kinship terms of the Besermans

    The purpose of this study is to identify and systematize the terms of kinship of Tatar origin in the Beserman dialect. The terms of kinship in the Udmurt language are relatively well studied. However, the terminology of Tatar origin as a separate lexico-semantic layer has not previously been considered in publications. Meanwhile, the study of such vocabulary can help shed light on the problems of the ethnogenesis of the Besermans, which is very important. This study was carried out mainly on the basis of T. I. Teplyashina’s monograph “The Language of the Besermans” and her field notes. The goals were achieved using descriptive and statistical methods, as well as the method of etymological analysis. Thirty-two Beserman terms of Tatar origin were identified and systematized, which allowed a new look at Besermian-Tatar contacts. In one of the periods, Besermans and Tatars had very close relationships up to interethnic marriages. The presence of special terms denoting the relatives of the husband among the Besermans, which are absent in other Udmurt dialects but correspond to the terms of the Chepetsk Tatars, may indicate that not only Besermian women married Tatars, but also Tatar women married Beserman men.

Для отбора языкового материала были использованы данные французских, диалектных и франко-бельгийских словарей, а также Лингвистические атласы Валлонии. Практическая значимость проведенного исследования заключается в возможности использования полученных результатов в спецкурсах по ареальной лингвистике.
