- Abstract:
- The article is concerned with the influence of family and the grades received by a primary school child from his parents on the formation of his self-image. It is shown that the primary school age is a sensitive period for the formation of the self-image, and the delay in mental development, as well as persistent psychopathological manifestation, respectively, introduces specific features in the process of forming the self-image. The author, through theoretical analysis of empirical data, defines these features, emphasizing that the self-image, under the negative influence of external and internal factors, is cognitively simple, incomplete, undifferentiated and inadequate. It is concluded that the functional family, being the most significant close environment of the child, has a great in-fluence on the formation of an adequate and differentiated self-image.
