- Abstract:
- This article examines the problem of student demotivation in the modern educational system and proposes an approach to solving it through the use of game design principles. The phenomenon of “boredom” is analyzed as a result of a mismatch between the complexity of educational material and the learner’s level of preparation. The concept of “flow” is considered as a state of deep engagement in activity. The article identifies the main problems of traditional education: lack of immediate feedback, uniform difficulty level for all students, monotony of learning, and lack of progress visualization. To solve these problems, the article proposes mechanics borrowed from the gaming industry: adaptive difficulty, task variability, achievement systems, and instant feedback. The educational platform Duolingo is analyzed as an example. The risks of excessive gamification and suppression of intrinsic motivation are also discussed.

- Abstract:
- The article examines the potential of Automated Writing Evaluation (AWE) systems in foreign language teaching within the context of digital transformation in education. It analyzes the theoretical foundations of AWE implementation, their functional capabilities, and their pedagogical value in developing learners’ writing competence. Particular attention is paid to the advantages of automated feedback, including immediacy, increased learner autonomy, and enhanced motivation. The study includes a comparative analysis of students’ written work before and after the use of an AWE system, revealing a reduction in language errors and an overall improvement in writing quality. At the same time, certain limitations are identified, such as insufficient accuracy in assessing semantic content and the risk of superficial error correction. The study concludes that AWE systems are most effective when integrated into the educational process in combination with teacher guidance.

- Abstract:
- Peer and self assessment have emerged as powerful strategies in contemporary education, fostering student engagement, autonomy, and achievement. This research paper critically examines the theoretical foundations and practical applications of peer and self assessment, with a focus on their role in enhancing engagement and learning outcomes. Drawing on constructivist, sociocultural, and assessment-for-learning theories, the study reviews empirical evidence, explores the integration of digital feedback tools such as Mizou, and considers regional perspectives. Findings suggest that when implemented thoughtfully, peer and self assessment can transform classroom dynamics, promote metacognitive skills, and support formative feedback processes. The paper concludes with recommendations for effective practice and future research directions.
