- The article focuses on the analysis of the functions of current and final control in methods of teaching foreign languages and on the identification of the causes of the inconsistency of the results of current and final control in methods of teaching foreign languages. The author analyses the following causes of the inconsistency of the results of current and final control: forgetting of a certain part of the material studied at the beginning of the module, the specificity of the final control, lack of motivation among the students.

- The paper deals with the growing global phenomenon of teaching EMI in the countries where English is not the mother tongue for the majority of population. Using the research conducted by Oxford EMI and the British Council, the author tries to focus on the phenomenon of EMI: its definition, aims, national expectations and new challenges for the Russian teachers. The author presents debatable issues related to the EMI incorporating at Russian universities that need further research and rethinking.

- The article considers the fundamentals of the national-regional component in teaching foreign languages, through the prism of which the characteristics of the modern system of education is given and the specificity of the integrated courses is studied as a way of forming a foreign-language intercultural competence. In the course of studing of this issue, the authors come to the conclusion that the competent implementation of the national-regional component contributes to the successful formation of foreign-language intercultural and social and cultural competences.

- The analysis of social and cultural reality shows that the increase in the education quality is one of actual problems of modern society. Foreign language competence of the students of agricultural institutions is a part of their professional competence and it is understood as a complex of cultural and professional competences necessary to solve professional tasks with a functional level of a foreign language. The forming of a foreign language competence of the students of agricultural institutions is exercised due to implementation of the following pedagogical conditions: working out teaching and learning aids, creating and supporting motivation to the professional foreign language study, analysis of learning outcomes.
