the chapter discusses the problem of increasing motivation to study geometry in grades 7–9 through the implementation of the principle of historicism. The relevance is due to a decrease in students' interest in mathematics, the formalization of education and the isolation of the subject from real life. The internal and external motives of learning are highlighted, and it is shown that external reinforcement (marks) can reduce internal motivation.
