Book ChapterDoors to the future are opening today: education as a social phenomenon in modern geopolitics: the foundation of Russian education in the era of global change- Author:
- Gennadii I. Beliaev

- Abstract:
- Upbringing is the basis of educational environment. During the modern information age upbringing as a social phenomenon stands as one of the essential sides of geopolitics, it forms the core of cultural and spiritual tradition and practice of education. Upbringing is as a rule the foundation for the creative attitude to the systems of life-affirmative values, yet it can become a tool for the reframing these systems into something else, sometimes absolutely alien to the spirit and nature of a human, his social and biological essence. Upbringing is much more than adaptive socialization; it is the social and cultural tool for keeping or rebuilding society and social relations. They feed up heroes, defenders, creators but the others feed up cowards, destroyers and parasites. Our world has entered the times of irreversible global changes with non-defined historical perspectives. Author of this book connects the problem schedule of modern education within the context of deep, truly revolution changes in human attitudes to the possibilities and spheres of adaptation of high technology to the high humanitarian strategies and ideas about human anthropology. He also connects these ideas and strategies with the geopolitical crisis of the modern world, global problems and global order where Russia has to not only self-define in the foremost 20-40 years, but also adopt leadership functions to elaborate a new spiritual vision of the moral world order. They should help to overdue its own symptoms and consequences of deep system social crisis and overcome such system threats of the inflicted insane world order, that is possible to lead humankind to the biological dead-ends of anthropogenesis, that is why it is necessary for the citizens to beat these tendencies back. Time has come and the question if our children would be blessed by the enlightened future? Alternatively, there will be no future at all – the solution of this question depends on us.

Chuvash Proverbs and Sayings as an Ethnopedagogical Means of Introducing Traditional Family Values
Review ArticleDevelopment of education Volume 6 No 4- Author:
- Klara V. Pushkina
- Work direction:
- Pedagogy and Modern Education
- Abstract:
- In modern society, the family is an important component of universal culture that preserves traditional national values. In the conditions of ongoing social changes leading to the growth of national self-consciousness, return to the roots, destruction of stereotypes, change of attitude to family values, it is necessary to preserve the understanding of the family as a traditional social institution. In this regard, the study of proverbs and sayings reflecting universal and national family values is of great importance. The aim of the study is to identify and substantiate family values in the upbringing of the younger generation in modern Chuvash families. The article considers traditional family values as the foundation of a strong and friendly family. The analysis of Chuvash proverbs and sayings about family life and family relations in the article shows that the Chuvash people place family values highly, brought up on national cultures and traditions. Our practical research shows that children's attachment to their parents is increasingly weakening. The lack of understanding of their children's behavior is explained by the following reasons: 1) parents' lack of fundamental pedagogical knowledge and skills; 2) parents' neglecting the basics of Chuvash family upbringing based on spiritual and moral values in the upbringing of their children. The author argues that the study of the basics of ethnic pedagogy will give positive results in the upbringing of children. The article used both general theoretical methods, including both the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature on the topic under consideration, including encyclopedic and reference literature, folklore works, and empirical methods, including pedagogical observation, the use of questionnaires and surveys, and generalisation of ethnopedagogical experience. The experimental work was carried out to determine the moral potential of traditional family values in the Chuvash family. The author comes to the conclusion that Chuvash families have preserved national customs and traditions that they inherited from their ancestors in order to pass on to the next generations as a common reference point in their family life.

Short-term effect of the Internet use on memory of adults
Research ArticleDevelopment of education Volume 6 No 4- Author:
- Elena I. Medvedskaya
- Work direction:
- Psychology in Education
- Abstract:
- The relevance of the research is due to the increasing use of the Internet and the lack of reliable information about the Internet exposure on higher mental functions of the users of different age. The aim of the study is to detect the short-term effect of the Internet use on indirect memorization in adults. The study has been conducted in terms of intraindividual quasi-experiment, that assessed the accuracy of memorization in two conditions: traditional reading (a book), web-search (a mobile phone). The pictogram test in the author’s variant was the main tool to assess the memory of adults. The research was held among teachers during classes of training courses (n=50; 12 males, 38 females; average age 44,56±4,11). To implement a scheme of a positionally equalized sequence of sampling, the sample was divided into 2 groups. In the results, one third of the sample showed the same level of accuracy in memorizing words in different conditions. Most of the participants demonstrated positive trends while reading (р≤0,01). While the number of mistakes was three times more for the web-search.

- Abstract:
- The current political situation emphasizes the necessity to maintain the image of the country, Russian culture and language, Russian-language education in the world. In the conditions of the educational process of the university, the problem of maintaining motivation to study among students of the international faculty, which directly depends on the atmosphere in the student group, is topical. The article reflects the results of the research aimed at approbation of the program of work with students of international faculty based on the application of elements of traditional cultures (traditional and folk games, communicative norms and traditions, elements of folk folklore, etc.) as a tool to overcome tension and conflict in student groups studying Russian as a foreign language. The method of questionnaire survey, psychological testing, and expert evaluations were used to assess conflict and distance. Conclusions: the organization of work with students of the international faculty within the framework of the psychological service of the university has its own specificity, different from the work with Russian-speaking students; the use of elements of traditional culture (traditional and folk games, communicative norms and traditions, elements of folk folklore, etc.) is appropriate for solving the problems of psychological support of foreign students during the period of study.

Traditions of Chuvash and Kalmyck fairy tale epic
Review ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 3- Author:
- Anton K. Salmin
- Work direction:
- Ethnography, Ethnology and Anthropology
- Abstract:
- The article is devoted to a long-term dispute about the peculiarity / non-property of the fairy tale genre of the typical features of the heroic epos. On the basis of the historical-typological method and the method of plot analysis, the corpus of texts of the Chuvash and Kalmyk fairy tale epic has been studied. The study considers the main works devoted to this problem, compares the relevant Chuvash texts with the Kalmyk fairytale epic, points to the incorporation of the biography and exploits of the fairytale hero in the heroic epic “Dzhangar”. The author also considers such blocks of heroic matchmaking as the childlessness of parents, a miraculous origin, heroic childhood and martial arts. All these motives are inherent in both the heroic tale and the heroic epic. The heroic traditions of the Chuvash and Kalmyk fairy tale epic are expressed in ethno-cultural realities, plot, epic motifs, and artistic devices. At the same time, researchers have no reason to talk about the complete identity of the ideological and artistic complex of the heroic epic and the heroic tale. The heroic epic and fairy tale are essentially differentiated genres. Here, one can speak as much as possible about the epic nature of heroic tales, about similarities and diffusion, but not about complete identity, and, naturally, there is no need to complete the magic-heroic tale to the classical epic. The publication contributes to the substantiation of the main features of the heroic epos in the heroic tale.

Respect for elders as a tradition of upbringing in a modern Khakass family
Review ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 5 No 3- Author:
- Klavdiya I. Sultanbaeva
- Work direction:
- Ethno-Cultural Problems of Education
- Abstract:
- The article discusses the results of an empirical study of the tradition of raising respect for elders in children of six or seven years old in a modern Khakass family. The relevance of the study is due to the need to familiarize the younger generations with the traditional values of the people and the formation of the spiritual and moral culture of the child's personality. The purpose of the study is to study the traditions of upbringing in the Khakass family, namely, a respectful attitude towards elders. One of the tasks of the work was the study of the moral ideas of children of senior preschool age. The study was conducted in the kindergarten “Kalinka” in Abakan on the basis of empirical methods and the research methodology “Subject Pictures”. The modern Khakass family is influenced by transformational processes and partially preserves ethno-cultural traditions. The tradition of respect for elders and adults is recognized by respondents as significant in the moral education of children, but is not considered as an independent cultural value. In the modern Khakass family, the described tradition in the moral education of children is partially preserved. In the moral ideas of older preschoolers, holistic reasoning about good and bad, good and evil prevails, there is an idea of helping elders, but the understanding of the concept of “respect for elders” is still poorly formed.

- The work is devoted to the analysis of texts of Chuvash epics recorded from the end of the XIX to the beginning of the XXI centuries. in the Chuvash villages of the Volga-Ural region. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of the content of the texts of Chuvash bylichek, to introduce them into scientific circulation. The study presents the classification of bulls compiled by the author. The work is based on archival and own field materials. The texts are analyzed in a descriptive aspect. At the same time, the author turns to ethnographic and linguistic approaches in the work. A distinctive feature of the Chuvash bylichka is its content: a description of the landscape, furnishings, traditional costume, jewelry, local cultural features. In addition, bylichkas are characterized by enumeration of endemic toponyms, details, the use of certain sets of plots, the mention of household items, tools, harness items, and the performance of various kinds of deeds. The most amazing are the narratives about the transformations of people with supernatural abilities into various household items (cloth, chair, pillow) or into animals (cat, dog, calf, lamb) and back into a person, the transformation of the mortgaged dead into horses, harness items. The ending of the epics often contains the syncretism of two religions: pre-Christian and Christian.

The Moscow Karaite Community of the Twentieth Century (According to the Memoirs Recorded in the 1990S From the Old-Time Karaites of Moscow)
Review ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 4 No 4- Author:
- Sergei S. Mikhailov
- Work direction:
- Ethnography, Ethnology and Anthropology
- Abstract:
- The Karaites are one of the very small, but at the same time the most interesting ethno-confessional groups that appeared in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. in a number of large cities of Central Russia, including Moscow. The purpose of the article is to acquaint readers and the scientific community with the results of a study of the Moscow diaspora of Karaites. When writing this article, the author primarily relied on field materials collected by him since 1993, by recording the memoirs of Moscow Karaites-old-timers. This ethnic group, whose representatives began to move from the middle of the XIX century. from the Crimea and, partly, Lithuania, professes a heretical stream of Judaism, founded in the 8th century. Babylonian Jew Anan ben David. Initially, the Russian (Crimean and Lithuanian) Karaites considered themselves part of the Jewish world, however, due to certain political reasons, they began to move away from Jewish identity, presenting themselves as a separate ethnic group professing an independent religion. The history of the Moscow Karaite diaspora is a very vivid example of such an evolution. Based on the method of field research, it was revealed that within the Karaite society, which numbered only a few hundred people, there were contradictions that did not contribute to unanimity in the diaspora and its religious parish. After 1989 there were no attempts to revive religious life. The activists of the community continued to develop new (in the author’s opinion – incorrect) assumptions regarding the origin of the Karaite people and their faith. At present, the Karaite diaspora, which never exceeded several hundred people in Moscow, is in the final stage of assimilation.

Personalization and Anonymization of the Place of Death of a Person in an Accident (Using the Example of Federal Highways a 151, P 178, P 241)
Research ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 4 No 4- Author:
- Mikhail G. Matlin
- Work direction:
- World languages and literature
- Abstract:
- The tradition of marking the places of death in road accidents is now widespread on all continents and in most countries, including Russia. Roadside monuments, which are installed at the same time, are of two types: some correspond to monuments in cemeteries, others do not. Sometimes it is enough for loved ones only to mark the place of death itself. Then a monument is erected, completely or partially devoid of information about the deceased. This phenomenon is called anonymization of the place of death. But for many, it is not the place itself that is important, but the memory of the deceased person. In this case, the monument contains the most detailed information about the deceased, so personalization and individualization are created. It can be embodied with the help of the design features of the monument, photographs or images of the deceased, personal information, epitaphs and objects that are placed on or near the monuments. The article presents data on the uniqueness of personalization and anonymization, obtained as a result of a survey of routes A 151, P 241, P178. It was out that ompletely anonymous memorial signs make up 19% of all sings on the highway P 241, reach – 33% on the highway A 151 and 50% on the highway P 178. It can be assumed that a higher degree of anonymization on the A 151 and P 178 highway is due to special types of memorial signs (a flowerpot on the P 178 highway, a gazebo and a fence without a sign on the A 151 highway), as well as a large number of old metal signs that have lost photos, plates with information about the deceased. There are no clear boundaries between anonymization and personalization, there is a large number of transitional phenomena that can be simultaneously defined as both partial personalization and partial anonymization.

The Destiny of “Tradition” in the Modern World: A Comparative Analysis of the Concepts of E. Hobsbawm and S. Eisenstadt
Review ArticleEthnic Culture Volume 4 No 2- Author:
- Yulia S. Obidina
- Work direction:
- Ethnography, Ethnology and Anthropology
- Abstract:
- The conflicting assessments of the nature and role of traditions in the modern world stem in part from differences in the use of the term; the specific phenomena that are the focus of each perspective differ in some important respects. This opens up the possibility that seemingly contradictory conclusions about the role of traditions in contemporary societies can be reconciled. The article discusses the role and influence of traditions for the analysis of the modern socio-cultural situation from the point of view of two approaches: the concept of invented tradition by Eric Hobsbawm and the concept of multiple modernities by Shmuel Eisenstadt. The purpose of the article is to give a comparative analysis of the two approaches to tradition, showing that modernity is not a culturally neutral, universal socio-cultural product, but is formed under the influence of many traditions. Based on the method of comparative analysis, it was revealed that the concept of multiple modernities by Shmuel Eisenstadt, as well as the concept of invented tradition by Eric Hobsbawm, contradict the view of the classical theory of modernization on modernity as a break with tradition. At the same time, the meaning that Eisenstadt attaches to tradition differs markedly from that proposed by E. Hobsbawm. It is concluded that from the point of view of the theory of multiple modernities, the invention of new traditions in modernity is better understood as a process of transformation, and that the reconstruction of a tradition is not the same as invention. In both cases, both for the transformation and reconstruction of the tradition, the sociocultural context is important.
