The article considers the problem of choice of an advanced training course in digital literacy by a modern teacher. An attention is paid to practical skills and abilities a modern teacher should have when using distant technologies in the educational process. The content analysis of a suitable advanced training course is made. Such a course must be aimed at comprehensive development of the necessary skills and be implemented by means of distant technologies as well. As a conclusion, it is stated that such a course should be of the complex nature.

The article considers the problem of additional vocational training in the system of higher education of the Russian Federation. The author gives main characteristics of a modern refresher course or a course of vocational training, based on the experience of attending courses of additional vocational training by the teachers of the Department of foreign languages of the Irkutsk State Medical University (ISMU).
