the chapter examines the relationship between value orientations, empathic abilities and emotional burnout of specialists of helping professions. The authors analyze the methodological approaches of foreign and Russian researchers to the problem of emotional burnout syndrome. the chapter analyzes the results of the research of life satisfaction and level of empathy of students of medical universities. The methodological approaches of foreign and Russian researchers to the problems associated with low life satisfaction and insufficient formation of empathic abilities in future doctors are characterized.
