  • The Book Chamber of the Chuvash Republic as the Custodian of the Writing and Ethnic Culture

    Abstract:
    The article reveals the history of the creation and main functions of the Book Chamber of the Chuvash Republic (in 2000–2012 – the State Press Archive), which in 2013 became part of the National Library of the Chuvash Republic. The purpose of the article is to reveal the significance of the Book Chamber of the Chuvash Republic as the main center for collecting and storing printed materials about Chuvashia and the Chuvash people, regardless of the place of publication. On the basis of the chronological method, the role of printed materials in the Chuvash language in the preservation of the ethnic culture of the titular people has been studied. It was revealed that the Book Chambers as institutions with a special legal regime existed in 5 points of the Russian Federation: in Moscow, in the republics of Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Chuvashia and Karelia. Their funds were used in scientific and publishing developments, preparation of materials for publication and for reprints. At present, the main activities of the Department of the Book Chamber are the acquisition, accounting and preservation of the fund of printed documents; state registration of printed documents in the Chuvash Republic, preparation of state bibliographic and statistical information; information and bibliographic services for users; methodological support of editorial and publishing activities of the mass media, publishing and printing enterprises of the republic; creation of a bibliographic database of articles «Chuvashik»; preparation and publication of the state bibliographic index «Chronicle of the press of the Chuvash Republic».

    Abstract:
    В статье рассматриваются причины трансформации контента советского телевидения в годы перестройки (1985–1991 гг.). Гласность, провозглашенная М.С. Горбачевым в качестве нового партийного курса, означала постепенное снятие существовавшего контроля над общественно-политическими коммуникациями в публичном пространстве. Она создала политические условия для демократизации и либерализации СМИ и тем самым положила начало периоду «ренессанса» в истории отечественной журналистики. В эти годы происходят революционные перемены на советском телевидении – появляются совершенно новые форматы программ, происходит растабуирование тем, ранее запрещенных для обсуждения в публичном пространстве, меняется экранная эстетика. Автор делает вывод о том, что именно в период перестройки были заложены современные принципы создания и распространения политической информации в СМИ и коммуникации власти и общества через механизм информационного повода. Именно в период гласности политическая информация стала многообразной, приобрела массу смысловых оттенков, журналисты получили право на авторскую позицию, а «лидеры мнения» – на интерпретацию событий.

    В статье рассматривается феномен телепрограммы советского телевидения «Взгляд». Выявлены особенности ее возникновения, причины невероятного успеха, а также факторы, которые привели к закрытию программы. Определены творческо-технологические инновации этого телевизионного публицистического произведения, сделавшие его новаторским продуктом в экранной журналистике второй половины прошлого столетия. Особое внимание автор уделяет рассмотрению эффекта воздействия программы на массовое сознание зрительской аудитории. Делается вывод о том, что, взяв на себя функцию одного из главных пропагандистов горбачевской перестройки, «Взгляд» сыграл существенную роль в демонтаже советской системы.

    Исследование направлено на изучение материалов переписки редакции советского журнала «Интернациональная литература» с французскими писателями в 1930-е гг., анализируются неопубликованные источники, хранящиеся в Российском государственном архиве литературы и искусств. Выявлены предпочтения редакции в выборе французских авторов для публикации на страницах журнала. Среди причин этого выбора основополагающее значение придается политической лояльности писателя по отношению к СССР. Показаны различия в методах работы редакции с отдельными французскими писателями. Основными сюжетами переписки выступали следующие: написание статей по заказу редакции на политические и литературные темы, публикация произведений французских авторов, творческие планы и литературные новинки. Кроме того, переписка с французскими писателями использовалась для получения сведений о политической позиции писателя. Охарактеризована роль журнала «Интернациональная литература» в культурной политике СССР. Подчеркивается значение деятельности редакции в деле создания благоприятного образа Советской страны на Западе.

    It is outlined that in the era of globalization, one of the key features of which is unification, there is a real danger of the disappearance of cultures of small ethnic groups. As a result, it becomes important to preserve and restore knowledge about their culture, customs and traditions. One of the bright projects dedicated to this topic is the “Katsky project”, the main translator of ideas of which is the area publication “Katsky chronicle”. The purpose of the research is to study the culture of the Katsky stan and ways of its revival. Hypothesis. In the course of the research, it was suggested that the journal “Katsky chronicle” is a way to revive and preserve the culture of the Katsky people. Methods of research. The research was carried out with the help of theoretic and empiric methods, the main method is the study of the historiographic database, which was compiled by the issues of the journal “Katsky chronicle” for the period from 1992 to 2017. The study of the journal's issues was conducted by analyzing the structure, content, sections, and language specifics of the journal (from the standpoint of semantics, phonetics, word formation, etc.). Results of research. The results confirmed the reflection of Katsky culture on the pages of the journal “Katsky chronicle”: the authors of the articles used specific dialect katsky language which is a fundamental component of ethno-cultural identity of the Katsky people. Along with the language, the journal demonstrates folklore, publishes historical information about the Katsky stan and its inhabitants, symbols, specifics of the way of life and housekeeping, customs and traditions. The results also confirmed that in the era of globalization, in an atmosphere of universal similarity and uniformity, there are examples of preserving the uniqueness and ethno-cultural identity of communities of people in their places of local residence.

  • Innovative Potential of Photobook Format in Ethnocultural Communication

    Abstract:
    The features of such a widely used format as a photo book in the context of visual ethnography were reviewed in the article. It is noted that the photobook is studied as a tool for creating visual ethnographic materials that allow to conduct a research on modern cultures and ethnic groups to form a cultural identity. Methods. As the subject of analysis, modern photobooks created by the photographer from Japan Ikuru Kuwajima were selected. Results. The potential of the photobook as an author's work is revealed and its communicative potential in ethnocultural interaction is described. An ethno-photo book is defined as a format of visual communication in which each photograph has an ethnical meaning, which contributes to the creation of author's photo narration, as a specific form of reflection of an ethnos, with a representation of ethnic images. The special functions of the ethno-photo book, which are realized upon activation of the author’s principle, are highlighted: the search for their own identity; pictorial (plot) narrative about an ethnic group; creating the integrity of ethno-narration; increment of information about the ethnic group; ethnos research by means of a photo image; details of the ethnic world view; preservation of ethnic pictures of the world; comprehending the culture of another. It has been determined that a modern photo book is distinguished by documentary content and multimedia features that give its content traits of pragmatism and streaming. An ethno-photo book is manifested as a meaningful substantial work in which the author narrates a pictorial story about an ethnos through photographs, creating a holistic artistic and semantic image of the ethnos. It is concluded that all this contributes to a special emphasis of the reader on certain elements of the ethnographic image and contributes to the creation of new information about the ethnos. It is mentioned that one of the varieties of photobooks is the author's photobook, as an in-depth study of oneself in the context of the ethnicity of the territories reflected in the photo-chronicles of the photographer.

  • A System of Ethnojournalism Assignments for Students of “Folk Art Culture” Curriculum

    Abstract:
    The “Journalism in the Ethnocultural Sphere” discipline belongs in the basic part of “Folk Art Culture” higher educational field of study curriculum, which is in the process of theoretical development and search for methodological approaches to its teaching. The article represents a development of practical assignments in this discipline. Methods. Based on the author’s own pedagogical experience in the field of teaching ethno-journalism to students of this curriculum in FSBEI of HE “Saint Petersburg State University of Film and Television”, a system of practical exercises aimed at development of general cultural and professional competencies has been developed. The assignments are divided into five topics; the students are expected to work in the field of both ethnocultural studies and journalism. For each practical lesson there are two types of assignments: analytical, which are based on a theoretical understanding of ethnocultural material (discussion questions), as well as work with mass media data, and creative tasks, which include creating journalistic texts of different genres on ethnocultural topics. It can be concluded, that the results of preparatory and classroom work with the proposed tasks suggest a successful completion of the discipline by future specialists in the field of folk art culture, as well as demonstrate their interest in ethnocultural knowledge and ethnojournalistic activity.

    В статье анализируется процесс трансформации взглядов и отношения к России выдающегося британского журналиста и писателя У.Т. Стэда, кардинальным образом повлиявшего на развитие британского общества в конце XIX в., в значительной мере изменившего направления как внутренней, так и внешней политики Великобритании и приложившего невиданные прежде усилия для того, чтобы, преодолев влияние пропаганды и стереотипов, по-настоящему узнать Россию, ее монархов и интеллектуалов и развенчать мифы об «отсталой», «варварской», «азиатской» стране и деспотизме её «кровавых тиранов». Автором выявляются факторы, обусловившие эволюцию политических взглядов У.Т. Стэда, и раскрываются ключевые особенности геополитической ситуации, а также специфика внешней и внутренней политики Великобритании в период с 1876 по 1888 г.

    Статья посвящена рассмотрению диалогичности масс-медиального дискурса как его конститутивного качества, без которого масс-медиальный дискурс утрачивает свои коммуникационные возможности. Автор подчеркивает, что средств диалогичности много: внешняя диалогичность в масс-медиальном дискурсе наиболее часто представлена вопросно-ответным комплексом. Также автор отмечает, что с структура интервью отражает это свойство и представляет собой интеракцию журналиста и респондента. Объект настоящего исследования – стратегии журналиста, организующие интервью. Автор приходит к выводу, что основной целью этих стратегий является получение новых сведений об интервьюируемом.
