    Abstract:
    The article discusses some problematic issues related to the improvement of the system of military-patriotic education of Russian youth at the current stage. It analyzes the goals, objectives, and methods of military-patriotic education implemented by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in particular, in cooperation with government agencies and public organizations. Special attention is given to a critical analysis of the regulatory legal framework, organizational forms, and practical results of activities in this area. Based on the results of a comparative legal analysis, certain proposals are formulated for using the experience of military-patriotic education in China, involving veterans of wars and armed conflicts.     Abstract:
    The article examines horse riding, a traditional martial art of the nomadic peoples of the Great Steppe, which has gone through a centuries–old path to modern sports. Special attention is paid to the causes and mechanisms of the revival of horse riding in modern Russia since 2005. The author reveals the multifaceted potential of horse riding as a tool for patriotic education and socialization of young people: strengthening physical health; familiarization with Cossack culture and historical traditions; development of teamwork skills, responsibility and quick decision-making; the formation of empathy and skills of interaction with a living being. It is concluded that riding is not only a sports field, but also an effective mechanism for preserving cultural heritage, transferring national traditions and forming vital competencies among the younger generation.

    Abstract:
    The relevance of this study is substantiated by the high social and personal significance of sports and patriotic education and insufficient development of this topic. The definition of the cognitive component as it applies to sports and patriotic education of adolescents is given. The chapter demonstrates the importance of this component as a basis for the formation of motivational and value attitudes in students. The results of a diagnostic study of the level of patriotic qualities in adolescents related to the cognitive component are presented. A range of topics that can form the content of the cognitive component of sports and patriotic education has been determined; the main forms of education and training corresponding to these topics have been selected. It is clarified that, taken in isolation, the indexes reflecting the development of patriotic qualities in an individual based on the cognitive component are insufficient for determining the overall level of patriotism and should be supplemented by data obtained through testing the level of patriotic qualities based on axiological and activity-based criteria.

    Abstract:
    This article examines the emergence of the Cossacks in Rus' as the result of a long socio-historical synthesis on the southern periphery of Russian lands in the 13th–16th centuries. An analysis of written sources, archaeological data, and historiography allows us to identify key factors in the genesis of the Cossacks: the depopulation of the southern "outskirts" after the Mongol invasion, the constant threat of nomadic raids, the migration of socially mobile groups, and the preservation of ancient Russian military traditions. Particular attention is given to an early 20th-century discussion between Cossack regional specialist E. P. Savelyev and professional historian P. P. Sakharov, reflecting the methodological conflict between patriotic interpretation and academic skepticism.     The article considers the problem of forming patriotic values among students of secondary specialized and higher educational institutions of legal specialties through the use of gaming technologies, in particular, quests. With the need to preserve national identity, the relevance of patriotic education is increasing. Analyzing the socialization of first-year students in secondary specialized and higher educational institutions, it was concluded that in the context of the development of a post-industrial, information society, the traditional approach to teaching history has become obsolete, and the new reality requires a new approach to teaching. The article proposes interactive teaching methods for History education. As part of the study, the authors presented the features of using quests as imitation teaching methods. These approaches increase the engagement, motivation and efficiency of material assimilation, contributing to the strengthening of spiritual and moral values. The "In the Footsteps of History" quest, focusing on the 1949 Khabarovsk trial of Japanese Kwantung Army members, was tested with first-year law students at the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian State University for the Humanities in Khabarovsk. The quest is adaptable for teaching the Second World War and other subjects, including non-humanities, with customized tasks aligning with curricular and professional competencies.

    Abstract:
    National self-consciousness is structured in such a way that it is based on historical memory. The past must be presented to the present and experienced by contemporaries. National self-consciousness is formed not so much by science, but rather by the political will of the ruling and intellectual elite. The core of national self-consciousness is formed by the epic mythos. Preservation of national mythology is no less important for the country's sovereignty than preservation of natural resources. Among the most significant political events that determine the national self-consciousness of the current generation of Russian citizens is the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War over Nazi Germany. The chapter analyzes the attitude to Victory Day in different periods of Russian political history: from military heroism to labor enthusiasm (Stalin and Khrushchev periods); giving state status to Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, as the second most important national holiday after the Great October Socialist Revolution (Brezhnev, Gorbachev periods); under the slogan «war without embellishment» – denigration of the results of the Great Patriotic War» (Yeltsin period); the establishment of Victory Day as the main national holiday (Putin period).

    Abstract:
    The article substantiates the importance of studying the discipline "Russian and Foreign literature" in the training of cadets of military universities in Russia. It is noted that when reading and analyzing the works provided for in the program, future officers form ideas about the causes of socio-economic, military-political, moral and moral crises of different historical eras, and develop respect for the historical heritage. The educational role of fiction is substantiated, as well as the need for cadets of military universities to study the works of domestic and foreign writers about the war, during which not only the cultural horizons of future officers are expanded, but also high moral qualities of the individual are formed: a sense of patriotism, pride in their profession. It is summarized that the quality of patriotic education of future officers directly depends on their ability to resist the enemy, the ability to show fortitude and reveal the "Russian character", in critical moments to raise the fighting spirit of their colleagues, to be an example of a true patriot, ready to sacrifice his life for the sake of a lofty idea – the defense of the Fatherland, the protection of his people.

    The chapter discusses some relevant aspects of higher education, as the author believes, as the basis of national strategies to provide students with the knowledge and competencies they need, which employers and the labor market require. It stands out that higher education is becoming an increasingly effective tool for integrating graduates into the modern labor market and opens up opportunities for professional development and the development of their personal abilities and mobility. The competitiveness of graduates in the labor market is an important indicator of the quality of university activities and the economic health of society, enabling economists and policy makers to assess human resources, the state of the labor market and the main economic trends that affect this dynamic. No less important, according to the author, are the moral values of a specialist. In order to increase success rates, the university takes various measures, which primarily relate to professional practice-orientation, the design of pedagogical support for education and increased motivation to study through an emphasis on applied aspects. The author emphasizes that the task of universities is to train not only highly professional specialists, but also patriots and moral personalities who are ready to defend their country and work for its welfare. The high level of competition encourages universities to carry out high-quality educational activities, motivate graduates to pursue fundamental, good studies in order to avoid further problems of unemployment and disappointment, and employers to consider education, morality and professionalism as an indicator of the real available talent pool.

  • The Continuous tence forms of the English language in the cognitive-semiotic aspect

    The article offers a cognitive-semiotic analysis of English Continuous tense forms. The purpose of this study is to analyze the internal form of Continuous tenses which are considered as grammatical phraseological units. By describing the cognitive phraseosemantic modelling of ‘conceptual complexes’ through grammar means the authors endeavour to define and formulate basic cognitive-semiotic features of English Continuous tense forms. As a result it is concluded that the general cognitive model of the Continuous tenses actualises the discursive identity between the Actant-Subject and the Actant-predicate noun expressed by the gerund of the meaningful verb. This model expresses the semantics of a confined action developing in a limited spatio-temporal frame without a rigid attachment to the temporal markers of the beginning and end of the action. Different Continuous tenses show different positions of the observing subject in relation to the time of action, as well as modifications of the basic cognitive model of Continuous. For Present Continuous and Past Continuous, the specificity of their discourse syntagmatics is that the position of the observing subject differs. Future Continuous is characterised by a modified model of Actant-Subject and Actant- predicate noun identity, which develops an additional cognitive parameter. In this case the paradigmatic dependence of the predicate noun on the subject of an statement is observed. The paper also considers the cognitive model of the construction to be going to + infinitive as a special case of the cognitive model of Continuous.

    This chapter examines in detail the value of «service to the Fatherland» and responsibility for its fate. The purpose of the chapter is to analyze the development of ideas about serving the Fatherland in the history of Russia and to identify their modern significance for the development of the Russian state through a comparative analysis of sources that reveal ideas about serving the Fatherland in the development of national culture. The chapter uses the results of publications by Russian and foreign authors, fiction and memoir literature. The linguistic analysis of the concepts associated with the term «ministries» is carried out on the basis of authoritative dictionaries of the Russian language and publications of famous linguists.
