- Abstract:
- We studied 30 years of experience of traditional medical school, as well as some trends in reforming the methods of teaching natural sciences. The importance of teaching biology to medical students remains undeniable; currently, there are current debates about the methods of teaching theoretical disciplines, including biology. We described various approaches to teaching: a teacher-oriented approach, a student-oriented approach, problem-oriented learning, discipline-based learning, integrated learning. According to the results of the student survey, it was revealed that 93.2% consider the discipline «biology» to be necessary in a medical university, 75% are satisfied with their results in studying the discipline, 82.4% consider a conversation with a teacher to be the preferred format for studying the discipline, 51.1% of respondents prefer an oral survey as an assessment tool, 79.1% of students are satisfied with practical work with a microscope. For optimal work, it is recommended to practice each of these approaches and apply them in everyday teaching activities. An individual approach to students, combined with the use of up-to-date teaching technologies, takes the teaching of fundamental disciplines to a new level, where classical and modern teaching methods are combined.

The impact of using chatbots on learning a foreign language in a non-linguistic university
Book Chapter
Psychological and pedagogical issues of modern education- Author:
- Elena G. Liakhova
- Work direction:
- Глава 7
- Abstract:
- The relevance of this study is determined by the fact that artificial intelligence and neural network chatbots are playing an increasingly important role in higher education; they often take over traditional methods of teaching a foreign language in non-linguistic universities. At the same time, the issue of the advantages of using artificial intelligence in teaching a foreign language remains open. The purpose of the chapter is to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using neural network chatbots in the process of teaching a foreign language in comparison with traditional teaching methods. To achieve this goal, the author uses experimental teaching of English to first-year future culturologists. As a result of the study, it was found that the process of assimilation of foreign language material when teaching a foreign language using chatbots differs from the process of assimilation while teaching traditionally. Significant differences were noticed at the stages of formation of motivation, presentation of new foreign language material, comprehension and rethinking of the new lexical and grammatical material. Such phenomena as clip thinking, the Google effect, and the devaluation of students’ memory with the constant use of digital devices have a particularly strong influence on changes in the learning process. Techniques are proposed to neutralize the negative impact of neural network learning on students, when implemented, an increase in the effectiveness of teaching a foreign language using neural network chatbots is observed.

Leisure and Play in Plato's Teaching and Learning Philosophy
Book Chapter
Psychological and pedagogical issues of modern education- Author:
- Aleksandr I. Kugai
- Work direction:
- Глава 8
- Abstract:
- A detailed study of the dialogues of Plato, the father of the fathers of philosophy and pedagogy, reveals that he considered leisure to be the central goal of education in the liberal arts. Schools should teach citizens not to avoid leisure by choosing excessive work, but instead to turn to virtue, embodied in the state in the daily practice of the liberal arts. But play was Plato’s method of education. Children learned best through playful activities that engaged their enthusiasm, that «turned the gaze of their souls» to the Good and the True. Likewise, play was the best way for adults to learn and practice philosophy, and it was the only way to discover new truth. Play was also central to the Socratic method. Plato found that dialogue at its highest and most serious level was a game for both teacher and student. Although the main thrust of playful education was to turn people to truth and to make them do philosophy for themselves, according to Plato, Being itself is in play.

- The purpose of the study is to consider the teachers’ aging. The factors influencing it are marked, using the example of Alatyr in the Chuvash Republic. In the chapter reveals the local features of secondary school staffing based on the empirical research analysis conducted in the period of 2021 – 2023. To understand the dynamic of changes in teachers’ aging, statistics was calculated. To visualize the results of the study a graphical method was used. The trend towards the aging of teachers in the school system of Alatyr, Chuvash Republic is obvious. It is also proved by the results of the research in pools of primary school, English and Maths teachers in 2021 and 2023. Current data may enable local education authorities to take a long-term approach to establishing a systematic set of strategies to build a more solid ground of the profession. The practical significance of the research lies in the fact that the obtained data, indicating a low level of renewal of the teaching staff, can be used to improve the situation with the aging of teachers. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that previously the teachers’ aging problem was not directly associated with local features of secondary school staffing. The data can be used by specialists to clarify the system of actions to stimulate the recruitment and retention of new teachers in the school system of a small town considering the local features.

- Work direction:
- Pedagogy and Modern Education
- Abstract:
- Changes in the higher education system imply a reorientation of the educational process towards the formation of students' competencies aimed at the social order of society and the state. A significant role among these competencies is assigned to the development of cognitive abilities. Traditional education assumed the development of these skills through text, which is not entirely acceptable for the current generation of students who read noticeably less than their predecessors. In this regard, the purpose of this study was to select the most effective means to promote the development of memory, attention, speech, and thinking logic. The authors of the article, using the example of historical disciplines, came to the conclusion that an important tool for the development of cognitive abilities at the present stage is a workbook. It allows you to structure and expand the acquired knowledge on the subject, train various types of memory, select, critically analyze and interpret available information, monitor and self-monitor the progress of students in a particular course. The diverse format of the proposed assignments, non-standard tasks, and creative projects makes the workbook a universal tool for developing cognitive abilities and improving the effectiveness of teaching in the disciplines of natural science and humanities.
