The ability of phytoncides to inhibit the growth of bacterial test cultures on a nutrient medium has been experimentally confirmed. The garlic extract demonstrated the highest antibacterial efficacy, which is consistent with the proposed hypothesis and is due to the high content of allicin — a biologically active compound with pronounced antimicrobial activity.
