    Abstract:
    The relevance of this study lies in the fact that modern society is putting forward more and more requirements for graduates of higher educational institutions, to have a certain set of professional competencies, critical thinking and teamwork. The purpose of this study is to consider the concept of critical thinking, to identify the stages and levels of formation of critical thinking among students of higher educational institutions. To achieve these goals, the following research methods were used: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature of Russian and foreign scientists on the topic under study. The purposeful introduction of critical thinking elements into the process of teaching students a foreign language contributes to the formation of their critical thinking skills. The authors of the study cite individual fragments of the developed foreign language training sessions aimed at developing critical thinking skills. The conclusions of the study emphasize the main role of teachers, who help students interpret, analyze, evaluate and implement the acquired knowledge in practice. Teaching students a foreign language in line with critical thinking requires university teachers to master language competencies, purposeful, systematic preparation for conducting training sessions aimed at completing tasks related to the formation of students’ critical thinking skills.

    Abstract:
    Podcasting, a digital educational technology based on the use of authentic and educational podcasts, is described in this study as a way to enhance learning and increase student motivation. Considering the educational value of podcasting from the point of view of its integration into modern pedagogical paradigms, the author justifies podcasting in second language learning in non-linguistic higher educational institutions, highlighting the criteria for its effectiveness: accessibility and thematic diversity, usability, development of metacognitive and language skills. The chapter presents the results of a quasi-experiment involving 146 students that aimed to identify students' attitudes towards podcasts before and after their introduction into the educational process.

The possibilities of using home-made equipment in physics for the organization of research activities are revealed. Examples of home-made devices used to study mechanical, light and electrical phenomena are given. Devices mounted from the simplest available materials are described, which allow organizing research on the study of physical phenomena, establishing scientific facts and discovering physical laws.

    Abstract:
    The chapter discusses the theoretical and methodological foundations for supporting the professional self-determination of high school students, modeling the reflexive technology of the process of supporting professional self-determination and its implementation in the space of an educational organization. The idea of the study is that the result of supporting professional self-determination of high school students is an understanding of personal characteristics considered in line with reflective activity, and most importantly, the acquisition of self-determination skills. The purpose of the study is to create and describe the theoretical and conceptual foundations of the model of reflexive technology for supporting the professional self-determination of high school students in the framework of secondary education. Research results show that the development of students' reflective skills and the preservation of a sustainable professional interest occur as a result of the implementation of reflective technology. The author comes to the conclusion that self-promotion in professional and personal terms can be considered the meaning of the process of supporting the professional self-determination of high school students.

    Abstract:
    September 2020 was the 10th anniversary of the dual education system in Russia. Germany (German school) is considered to be the ancestor of dual education. Its elements can be found in the systems of professional education in many European and Asian countries [2]. Today the dual system of professional education has received worldwide recognition – it is the most widespread and recognized form of personnel training, which combines theoretical training (in our country – 40%, in Germany – 20–25%) in an educational institution and industrial training (75–80% at the enterprises). This model of training is used in specialized secondary and higher educational institutions, and is financed jointly with business, which is interested in qualified personnel, and the state. The new training system should "arm" the graduates with three main competences, behavioral and personal qualities: Decision-making skills (Soft Skills); professional qualities (Hard Skills), because unprofessionalism is ruining Russia; modern technologies (Digital Skills).

    Abstract:
    The chapter describes the problems of teaching propaedeutics of childhood diseases, which were discussed at the third All-Russian conference «Knowledge of propaedeutics is the basis of clinical thinking of a pediatrician." The characteristics of modern textbooks on this discipline, published in Russia in the last 15 years, are given, their advantages and disadvantages are described. The educational and methodological manuals and workshops published in SPbGPMU on separate sections of the program at the Department of Propaedeutics of Children's Diseases are described. Discussions are presented on the methodology of teaching practical skills, innovations in teaching and traditional work at the bedside, methods for assessing the physical development of children and childhood nutrition. It is emphasized that the formation of a student's motivation for learning largely depends on the personality of the teacher, his human qualities, charisma, competence and empathy.

    В статье рассматривается проблема формирования у обучающихся начальной школы soft skills, которые принято понимать как мягкие навыки, необходимые для жизни: организация и участие в командной работе, умение договариваться и слышать иное мнение, аргументированно высказывать собственное мнение, креативность, способность адаптироваться к изменениям. Сформированные soft skills рассматриваются в качестве одного из базовых показателей эффективной социализации личности младшего школьника. Указывается, что для эффективного формирования soft skills необходимо использовать не только учебное время, но и использовать потенциал внеурочной (внеучебной) деятельности. В данном контексте представлены формы организации внеурочной (внеучебной) деятельности в начальной школе, обозначено ее содержание при реализации разных форм. Целью статьи является конкретизация понятия soft skills, его специфического отличия от hard skills (жестких навыков), определение значимости внеурочной (внеучебной) деятельности обучающихся начальной школы в процессе формирования указанных навыков.

    Abstract:
    The article deals with a vital problem of the specifics while mastering a foreign language (English) by the students studying at the training department of “Public and municipal administration”. The aim of this scientific article is to analyze the peculiarities of studying a foreign language by students of management specialties, which can allow one to explore English-language sources with a complex vocabulary and conceptual apparatus. The author of the article uses theoretical and empirical research methods. The research material is the content of professional training, while the means of education are authentic English texts of professional subjects, allowing students to master international terminological tools. The results of the research show the need to develop critical, analytical thinking among the students, in addition to mastering the general course of a foreign language (English). The scientific direction of ESAP is depicted in the article, which allows professional and language skills’ teaching in a specific disciplinary context. It can be concluded that the attention of the students studying a foreign language in the direction of preparation 'State and municipal management' should be focused on various types of analysis, such as logical, comparative, lexical and terminological, contextual ones, which, in turn, can require critical and analytical thinking development, selection of information, its processing, interpretation, as well as its adequate use.

    Abstract:
    The authors presented an approach to teaching foreign language monolog speech to students in multi-level groups, including numerous ones. These skills acquire particular relevance within the professional teachers’ training context: later on they teach speaking skills to their ESL students. The approach is based on video lectures hosted by TED, which are used as reference texts for students to build their own monologs. The authors outlined the principles and presented the algorithm of work. The important components are listening to the lecture (exposure to example) and redoing the speaking.

  • Role-Playing as a Method of Developing Social Creativity in Adolescence in an English Lesson

    Abstract:
    Introduction. The article discusses role play as one of the methods for developing social creativity in adolescence in English lesson. The article also analyses the results of the study aimed at determination of the possibility of increasing the level of students’ social creativity by implementing role plays in the educational process. Literature review. The article provides a theoretical analysis of approaches to the definition of the term «social creativity», special attention is paid to the indispensable condition for successful development of this skill – creating a special creative environment at the lesson. There is also considered the structure of a role play as a method of developing social creativity. Research methods. At the ascertaining and control stages of the study, we used the Sievert Horst test to determine creative abilities. At the formative stage, a series of lessons using role-playing games has been developed and introduced into the educational process. The results of the study. Analysis of the results of the ascertaining stage of the study allowed us to conclude that students have a low level of social creativity, are inert to proposals of new ideas, creative problem solving. The use of role plays in foreign language lessons improved the indicators on all the scales (resourcefulness, ability to combine, divergent thinking, freedom of association). Moreover the use of role plays in English lessons contributed to the development of the students’ communicative skills, improved the attitude of students to the school discipline «English», increased their motivation to study the subject. Conclusions. The results of the study allowed us to conclude that the use of role plays on the lessons of foreign language is an effective method to develop adolecents’ social creativity.
