The relationship between the self-concept and the features of communication in adolescence: a theoretical and empirical analysis
Book Chapter
Theoretical and practical aspects of pedagogy and psychology- Authors:
- Natalia V. Shurova, Olga I. Zenina
- Work direction:
- Глава 22
- Abstract:
- The chapter presents the results of theoretical and empirical research on the relationship between the structural components of self-concept and the features of communication in adolescence. The relevance of the study is driven by the need for an in-depth examination of the mechanisms of self-awareness formation in the context of digital socialization and the transformation of traditional educational institutions. The theoretical analysis includes a review of psychological approaches to self-concept (humanistic, cognitive, and social-constructivist paradigms), its structural components (cognitive, affective, and behavioral), as well as the psychological characteristics of adolescence and the specifics of the communicative sphere. The empirical study was conducted on a sample of 60 adolescents aged 11–16 using the following instruments: V.V. Stolin and S.R. Pantileev's Self-Attitude Questionnaire, M. Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale, V.I. Morosanova's Self-Regulation Styles Questionnaire, V.F. Ryakhovsky's Sociability Assessment Method, and the COS-2 Test (Communication Skills Test). Statistically significant correlations were found between the emotional-evaluative components of self-concept (self-respect and self-sympathy) and communicative tendencies, with self-regulation identified as a mediating factor. The findings can be used in the development of psychological and pedagogical support programs for adolescents.

Between shame and autonomy: two faces of adolescent vulnerability in the educational environment
Book Chapter
Theoretical and practical aspects of pedagogy and psychology- Author:
- Alla I. Matveeva
- Work direction:
- Глава 23
- Abstract:
- The chapter is devoted to constructing a differentiated analytical model of age-related vulnerability in adolescents within the educational environment for two ontogenetically distinct cohorts: ages 10–13 and 14–18. The author proceeds from the position that a unified interpretation of adolescence is methodologically untenable, since identical behavioral manifestations (irritability, withdrawal, conflict behavior, declining academic performance) may be generated by fundamentally different psychological mechanisms and therefore require differentiated diagnostics. For early adolescence, the concept of «three pillars of stability» is proposed: self-perceived competence, self-regulation, and social status within the peer group, the weakening of which explains typical forms of school maladaptation. For late adolescence, the leading challenge is considered to be the existential task of identity and autonomy formation, intensified by the digital environment of social comparison and cyberbullying. Based on the analysis of Russian and international empirical data (WHO, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, HSE University, VCIOM), a three-level «risk map» of the educational environment has been operationalized, encompassing structural, social, and personal-psychological levels. Current diagnostic practice is also described (ongoing observation, annual screening, in-depth diagnostics), along with the «school ambassador» institution as a mechanism for early identification and referral of adolescents at psychological risk. The study shows that the structural level of the school environment plays a foundational role: the concentration of up to 70% of bullying cases within a limited circle of educational institutions points to the institutional, rather than purely individual-psychological, nature of most risks. The proposed model provides a basis for schools to shift from reactive intervention toward systematic, age-differentiated prevention.

- Work direction:
- Глава 24
- Abstract:
- The chapter addresses the problem of diagnosing mental development in adolescents with uneven academic performance, whose grade point average does not reflect the actual structure of their intelligence. Using a seventh-grade student as a case study, the School Mental Development Test (SMDT) was administered. A distinctly uneven intellectual profile was revealed, which correlated with the student's real-life academic difficulties. The potential of the test for developing targeted remedial recommendations that take into account the strengths and weaknesses of individual students is substantiated.

- Abstract:
- The article examines the transformation of organizational and methodological approaches to ensuring security at the Olympic Games in the period from 1972 to 1984. Based on the analysis of historical documents, parliamentary reports and scientific research, it is shown that the terrorist attack on the Munich Olympics (1972) became the starting point for the formation of a new model of organizing sports mega-events – the "Olympic fortress". Special attention is paid to the impact of these changes on the competition infrastructure, the psychological training of athletes, the work regulations of coaching staffs and the logistics of moving delegations. The conclusion is made about the need to integrate safety measures into the sports event management system as an integral element of modern methods of physical education and sports training.

- Abstract:
- This article addresses the development of psychological and pedagogical support in contemporary educational systems. Moving beyond traditional models focused on academic performance and behavioural compliance, the authors argue for a holistic, student-centred approach that integrates cognitive, emotional, and social dimensions of learning. Drawing on a review of empirical studies from 2010 to 2024 and qualitative observations from Russian and international schools, the paper identifies three core pillars of effective psychological and pedagogical support. The article concludes that sustainable support systems require systemic change – not isolated interventions – and offers practical recommendations for teachers, school psychologists, and administrators.

- Психология профессиональной деятельности: мотивация, карьерное развитие, самоменеджмент, командообразование
- Abstract:
- This article presents the results of an empirical analysis of the relationships between psychological well-being (the PERMA model) and professionally significant personal resources among linguistics students at a pedagogical university. A cross-sectional study was conducted on a sample of 100 fourth-year students. Using nonparametric statistics (Spearman's ρ, Mann–Whitney U test), the formation of a "resource cluster" was confirmed: growth mindset and foreign language learning enjoyment demonstrate a strong mutual relationship (ρ = 0.692), while emotional intelligence is most closely associated with well-being (ρ = 0.745). An analysis of extreme groups (25th/75th percentiles) revealed a significant superiority of students with high PERMA scores across all three resources (r = 0.45–0.61). A weak non-significant relationship was found between engagement and self-control (ρ = 0.193, p = 0.054), which does not contradict theoretical conceptions of engagement.

Resistance as an attribute of subjectivity of students in the conditions of vocational education: a theoretical analysis of psychological and pedagogical approaches
Book Chapter
Modern issues of pedagogy and psychology: theoretical and methodological approaches and practical re-search results- Author:
- Elena V. Bragina
- Work direction:
- Глава 2
- Abstract:
- The chapter presents a theoretical analysis of the concept of resistance in the context of adult learning and its connection to manifestations of subjectivity. Scientific approaches to understanding the nature of resistance have been systematized. The evolution of interpretations of resistance – from classical psychological theories to modern cognitive, motivational, and pedagogical concepts-has been traced. It is shown that resistance may function both as a barrier to learning and as an expression of autonomy, the striving to construct personal meanings of learning, and the preservation of the learner’s identity. The study proposes a conceptualization of resistance as a significant attribute of the manifestation of learner subjectivity in the context of continuing professional education. The practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of applying its findings and conclusions to the design of continuing professional education programs and courses, as well as to the organization of psychological and pedagogical support for adult learners within the university educational process.

- This article examines the pressing issue of transforming interactions between families and preschool educational institutions in the context of digitalization and social uncertainty. The authors explore the phenomenon of increasing parental control and resource constraints in modern families, which conflict with growing demands on adult educational competence. The study focuses on the methodological gap between the current challenges of "late modernity" and traditional asymmetrical models of informing parents, which fail to adequately coordinate educational strategies. The study utilizes conceptual modeling, narrative-integrative review, and content analysis of scientific sources. Systems, activity-based, and resource-based approaches were employed to synthesize theoretical data into a unified structural and functional model. - The article examines the traumatic experience of an individual in an educational environment as a systemic phenomenon that arises at the intersection of individual vulnerabilities, interpersonal interactions, and institutional practices of an educational institution. The educational environment is analyzed as a set of norms, relationships, communications, and digital channels that can both support personal development and exacerbate chronic stress and re-traumatization. The article explores the main sources of trauma and their psychological consequences. Special attention is given to the multi-level system of psychological assistance, which includes prevention, early detection, counseling, and crisis intervention. It has been shown that, with psychological safety, social support, and appropriate educational practices, the educational environment can become a space for not only recovery, but also post-traumatic personal growth.
